Saturday, we went on a family adventure...well, a family adventure minus 1. Aubrey stayed with Jja Ja & Pa for some grandparent love. We went to Crowders Mountain in Gaston County and decided to climb the Backside Trail. It is only a 0.7-mile climb, but they didn't label it "Rigorous" for nothing :) I don't think it helped that Stephen and I took turns carrying Lily Kate most of the way. We had to go at a brisk pace because we got there late and the park closed at 6pm. But let me tell you...the view from the top was SO worth it.

Showing Lily Kate the view |
She was such a trooper! For a girl who complains that "My legs are tired" on the walk from the car into Target, she did really well "climbing a mountain." The final part of our trail is 334 steps to the top. Lily Kate wanted to do the steps and did close to 300 of them! It rained on us for about 15 minutes so the steps were slippery, and we wanted her to be extra cautious.
The view- we couldn't see very far because of the recent rain |
Lift up your eyes and look to the heavens:
Who created all these?
He who brings out the starry host one by one
and calls forth each of them by name.
Because of his great power and mighty strength,
not one of them is missing.

Sunset |
I can't wait to go back and hike one of the other trails out there. It is so beautiful! Though I must admit- I was a little sore on Sunday :)
