Calling all Moms!

Four years ago we moved to Charlotte.  Three months prior to our move, I had given birth to our first child, and it seemed like the perfect time for me to transition from a working wife to a stay at home mom.
Me & Lily Kate when we moved here

I loved my new job.  Getting to see Lily Kate change and develop seemed like the opportunity of a lifetime, but being a social person and going from being around co-workers 40+hours a week to not having many friends in town, I felt very alone.  Insert two major lifesavers: South Charlotte Moms and MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers).

I loved the flexibility of South Charlotte Moms calendar-I was able to schedule as many activities as I wanted and coincidentally I met some of my best mom friends this way.  Even four years later, several of us still get together on a weekly basis.

I also became involved in Mothers of Preschoolers.  This was a great way to meet new friends, glean from other more experienced moms, and...let’s face it...to have a few hours child-free to relax and have adult conversation.  Each month, I look forward to my Tuesday night Mom’s Night Out at MOPS.

Mothers of Preschoolers (MOPS) is a time for you to connect with other moms: to laugh, to learn, to eat, and to unwind.  We meet the first Tuesday of each month from 7-9pm at Carmel Baptist Church. Registration is $70 for the year but your first meeting is free- so feel free to come and check it out. (Scholarships are available) If you love it like I do, sign up and come every month Sept-May.  Another great perk is there is free childcare - I have used it several times when my husband had to work late.

Each meeting you can expect to enjoy fellowship, food, crafts or games and a special speaker whose topic is relevant to preschool moms.  Some previous topics have been personal image, parenting, couponing, pediatric issues, home organization and marriage.  Outside of the monthly meeting, there are play dates, MNO events, lunch meetings and opportunities to serve- last year we served at the Operation Christmas Child Processing Center.

Whether you're urban, suburban, rural, stay-at-home, working, teen, adoptive, special-needs, single, or married, MOPS is for you!
Join me at MOPS tonight!
You are invited to join me at MOPS,  a place where mothers of preschoolers (birth through kindergarden) can come and experience authentic community, personal growth, practical help & spiritual hope.  I’d love to see you Tuesday, September 4th at our first meeting of the year!

Not able to come to Carmel MOPS?  Check out MOPS.org to find a MOPS group near you!
