A Little Culture

Saturday, Wells Fargo hosted an arts festival Uptown.  There was a street fair with a sidewalk chalk competition, a lego sculpture display, stage coach rides, and many stages with live entertainment.

Most of the museums uptown offered free admission!  We took advantage and checked out the Mint Museum.  Thankfully they have a kid friendly room so the girls could experience the arts in a hands on manner.  We visited one of the exhibit floors, but decided we were a little too loud for that crowd :)
Lily Kate said this was her favorite part- the toddler area at the Mint Museum :)

My Happy Pumpkin

We have a book entitled My Happy Pumpkin  by Crystal Bowman.  We have read it since LK was a baby and we love it.  She wanted her pumpkin to look like the one in the book.
Some of my favorite lines from the book:

My pumpkin is happy and I’m happy too.
For God picked me out, and he made me like new.
He washed all my sins and he threw them away.
I show God I love him each time I obey.
I’m God’s special child, he made me complete,
from the hair on my head to the toes on my feet.
I’ll try to do good so that others can see
God’s love and God’s light, shining through me.

More Fall Fun

This is the season for Fall Festivals and today we attended one at the Library.
Bunny wasn't too sure about this.
Her carrot was Daddy's when he was a bunny for Halloween- (same age)!
YEEHAW!

Shelly and the girls joined us for the fun

LK chose a ghost, Elena- balloons and Audrey -a ladybug

What's Your Favorite Vegetable?

Mine is Candy Corn!

Okay I know its a corny joke, but my Mother-in-law made the girls Candy Corn Pillowcase Dresses and they are adorable.  They are going to wear them every day between now and Halloween :)

I saw the idea on a friends blog and showed it to her a month ago.  Then forgot all about the idea until she surprised us on Tuesday with two adorable dresses!

Costume Cuteness

We attended our play group fall festival today at Carmel Road Park.

They had some great activities for the kids- Lily Kate loved decorating a treat bag and making a foam frame.
After our picnic lunch, it was time for the candy hunt- think large field with candy scattered throughout.  Lily Kate picked up a pack of skittles and said "These are for Daddy" She's always thinking of others.

Then the kids paraded through the park in their costumes.
There was one other snow white :)

Taste of the South

Saturday night we went to Sauceman's in South End.  We have been wanting to try it for a while since a friend of ours from church is a co-owner.  It fits my "kid friendly" restaurant criteria - you order at the counter and they have a roll of paper towels on the tables :)  Not your typical barbeque joint, they have lots of different sandwiches to choose from.  I chose the Southern Belle and Stephen loved the Dixie Cuban.
Lily Kate gave everyone a taste of her grilled cheese ;)
Aubrey's favorite was the Sugar Biscuits- they are a must!
Rachel got the Sweet Smoke (it had granny smith apple slices on it) -I will get that sandwich next time!
